Journal: Week of September 20, 2004 Click here to return to the journal main page. September 26, 2004 My usual Sunday story, and hence no significant events to comment on. Back to Top I read the parts of Geology and Petrology of the Galápagos Islands that discussed our islands. It was a good read, although I am not relying heavily on the content from this book because it is 35 years old. Back to Top September 24, 2004 The current scope of my research was extended somewhat during our team meeting to include both geology and geography, along with the human impact to our islands, which is actually minimal. The illegal fishing around our islands is a more prevailing occurrence because of the isolation of this part of the Galápagos. Minutes are available by clicking here. Back to Top I will be developing a write-up for our team's web site first draft this coming weekend and early next week. It will focus on geology of the Galápagos, using primarily Internet sources, and Geology and Petrology of the Galápagos Islands. Back to Top During our coordination meeting today, I was assigned to geology research. Minutes can be viewed here. I also went to the library and secured a term loan on an international Galápagos travel map, with a scale of 1:500,000. Thanks to my teammate Matthew, we are able to show the map electronically. The map is referened in the bibliography section. Back to Top I searched the Internet to find information on the geology and climatology of the Galápagos, and found many excellent sites. I decided to focus on these two areas until next month and then look more into the fauna and flora species around our islands. Back to Top September 20, 2004 Information session today on understanding tasks. Minutes can be viewed here. |
