In this image you are looking west at the basal detachment of the fold and thrust belt where the fault is relatively parallel to the Stratigraphy. In this image of the Keystone Thrust near Las Vegas, limestones are thrust over sandstones, but further east, at the edge of the fold and thrust belt, we find sedimentary frocks thrust up and over basement rocks.
