February 4, 1998: Welcome to the class!

February 4, 1998: Please note that due to a scheduling change, in the Course packet the readings for weeks #4 and #5 have been transposed.

February 11, 1998: In the hardcopy version of the Technology Homework Assignment "Web site critique and construction", please make the following changes:

• In the section titled "Preparing Your Athena Account for Web Site Publishing" (page 9) replace the phrase "type either 'ringworld' or 'vandiver' in the top box..." with "type 'athena.mit.edu' in the top box..." and the word "RingWorld" in the next bulleted section with "athena.mit.edu".

February 20, 1998: Technology Exercise #1: "Exploring the Internet" has been updated. Please make sure to do the latest version, which has six questions.

March 1, 1998: Technology Exercise #2: Security and Encryption" is now available from the class website.

March 1, 1998: Due to the need to upgrade to a version of Eudora compatible with PGP, and due to the export control issues for strong encryption software, like PGP, we have decided to make this assignment optional. However, if you decide to turn in the assignment, you will earn points toward your class participation grade.
