STISIM Drive
(SDL) - FOG - Fog Effects
This is a new event that
allows you to dynamically display fog in the roadway scene. The fog event can
be used to temporarily or permanently reduce the visibility in a scenario.
Unlike in previous versions of the program where the fog was either on for an
entire run or off for the entire run, the fog event allows the fog to be
dynamic so that you can have it appear and disappear as a function of how far
the driver has traveled. If you want to set fog for an entire run, this can be
done using the atmospheric conditions found in the Other
tab of the Configuration option found in the Options menu. The fog's color
can be set using the "Set Simulation Colors"
and "Assign Simulation Colors"
options found in the Options menu.
EVENT PARAMETERS:
PARAMETER 1: |
Longitudinal distance, in feet, that the beginning of the fog is away from the driver when it first becomes visible. |
PARAMETER 2: |
Depth to opacity. This is the distance, in feet, that the driver will be able to see into the fog. |
PARAMETER 3: |
The longitudinal length, in feet, of the fog event. The fog will disappear after driving this distance through it. |
PARAMETER 4: |
Transition distance, in feet, to go from no fog to full fog. This allows the fog to start and end gradually. |
EXAMPLES:
5000,FOG,1000,1000,2000,500
The example FOG event above,
shows how you would add a short patch of fog to a scenario. After the driver
has driven 5000 feet, fog will start to appear 1000 feet in the distance. As
the driver gets closer to the fog, it will start to get denser over a 500 foot
distance, until the driver can only see 1000 feet ahead. After driving 1500
feet through the fog (2000 – 500), the fog will start to lessen, and over the
final 500 feet it will disappear.
