In this concept the bar rotates. Instead of freely rotating on bearings, the bar is powered by a small electric motor. Dificulty can be adjusted by increasing speed and changing or alternating spin direction.

This bar is comprised of two outer sheaths. A a solid shaft supports the two hollow sections. A few seconds after grasping the bar, a linear actuator retracts the interior beam, which allows half the bar to freely rotate. Gravity will overcome even the strongest grip.
