Spiders is an ALTERNATIVE Concept to Tentacles

In the spiders concept, the tentacles are REPLACED by spiders on the walls and lasers which show where the spiders are looking. Initially, all the spiders are awake and with the many laser beams the adventurers see they cannot get past the spiders with being seen (tripping a laser). When the music box plays, some of the spiders' eyes close, creating an opening large enough for a human to jump through. Each music box causes a different set of the lasers to turn off, allowing for some strategy in who jumps during each music box.

Spiders body design

The above spider body design is modeled off of a black widow. Multiple spiders would be securely attached to the walls with a laser coming out from each eye. The lasers could either all be positioned to lie in a single plane or positioned to cover some depth into the foam pit. In addition, the spiders could either have speakers inside of them or on the wall next to them for the snoring noise.

Each laser would have a corresponding receptor, and if this recepetor noticed it was blocked when the adventurers were jumping it would know the spiders had "seen" the adventurer, and the group would fail the room. This design seems significantly easier to set up than the tentacles, though I am unsure if adventurers would enjoy the room more with spiders as monsters or with some sort of tentacle monsters. One potential issue with tripping lasers is if the foam was hit into the path of the spider. To mitigate this risk, the lowest laser should be a decent height above the surface of the foam pit.

If we decide this design is worth persuing the room could be improved by having the spiders legs wiggle slightly when the spiders are awake, and then stop wiggling as the spiders go to sleep.
