I asked some friends how they felt about electric stoves. Here are their responses.
Electric stoves are super easy to clean and the smooth black surface is pretty aesthetically pleasing. They take forever to heat up and cool down. They're super inconsistent between models, so a 4 on one could be a 7 on another. If a pan isn't perfectly flat, it won't heat properly (problematic in a shared dorm kitchen) and temperature changes takes forever to readjust.
I hate electric stoves.
Nice thing about electric is that you don't have to worry if it was left on. It would turn off automatically if something wasn't on it for a certain amount of time. Its pretty easy to not realize that its not on. Sometimes I was like "why isn't my water boiling" and I realized I turned on the wrong hob. It also feels like its harder to control little levels of heat. Its just numbers which I know is the same for gas but you can at east see visually how much you turn it down. Easier to clean!!!
Easy to clean! More visually appealing and easier to shift pots from one to another. But they don't heat up as fast and its hard to tell if its hot in the first place.
