The redesigned REMI Recycling System creates a seamless waste disposal experience that makes sorting waste and recycling as easy as pie. Unlike today's clunky and outdated waste bins, the REMI Recycling System contains smart digital features complemented by a sleek, modular design and standardized, color-coded lids and labels that facilitate multi-stream recycling.
REMI provides intelligent audio guidance to help users quickly demystify which bin their waste should be sorted into. Powered by solar panels, the system saves energy by staying in the power-saving mode until the sensor detects someone approaching. Witty and friendly like R2-D2, REMI greets the user with a warm salutation and offers to assist. Users can speak to REMI and ask questions such as, "Where should this coffee cup go?" REMI will provide the correct answer, and the appropriate bin will open automatically. The self-operating lid addresses users' hygiene concerns, and there is also a backup solution, a sturdy pedal, in case the system is powered off or the user is mute.
Depending on the environment and space, the REMI Recycling System can be installed with an interactive screen displayed above the bins to provide additional visual cues. Users are commended for recycling and can learn how they have made a difference on the environment. Throughout this experience, REMI chirps and hums along, not only intriguing the user and passersby, but also encouraging them to recycle more by creating a memorable and positive interaction.
