User Journey Before suggesting the possible redesigns for the vacuum cleaner, I studied the user experience in detail to verify some of the pain-points and tried to find out the root cause behind them. Let's go on a cleaning trip with my friend Akshay as he cleans a carpeted area near his room in one of the graduate dorms.

The journey begins at the reception desk for our dorm. He checks out the vacuum cleaner for his cleaning expedition!

Akshay now faces serious difficulties in dragging this vacuum across the carpeted floor. Adding to his troubles is the handle which is designed for usage by single hand.

But, Akshay doesn't give up that easily. He makes a wire loop and carries it all around while cleaning the floor.

Now, done with the cleaning, he starts untangling the cord for putting it back on the vacuum cleaner.

We enter the elevator with minor uneasiness caused by dragging the vacuum cleaner along with us.

He is now all set for cleaning and plugs the vacuum cleaner in a socket that is a bit far. The result is an entangled mess of wire lying all around.

By now, he has strained his right arm due to cleaning and wants to switch to his left. But, because he has a wire loop in his left hand and decides against the change.

Now comes the hard part. He has to bend awkwardly and put the cord back on the vacuum cleaner before returning it to the reception of the grad dorm.
