By the time Veronica reached the Royal Storage Room, which the current occupants nicknamed "The Gadget Dungeon", she was sobbing quite loudly. So loudly was she crying that the servant carrying the doll, in whose pocket she was hidden, had shaken and beaten the doll to get it to stop. "We don't need any more crying in this place," he was heard to say. "If you don't shut up. I will toss you into the fireplace." The doll them move her hand to muffle the sound from Veronica. The doll did this slyly so that the servant did not notice her movement.
When the servant was gone, the doll said to Veronica, "You know you must be quieter. You will get us all in trouble."
"I am sorry. I don't want anymore trouble to come to you. I will try not to bother you," and she just sat there and depressed. After a few hours, the other gadget and things knew that she couldn't be depressed forever. They had all know what they were getting into before coming here. They knew the risks but they risked it anyway. Even though she was mean to most of them, it was really no reason for them to be happy in her sadness. They decided that they would get her rescued.
