Somewhere on the Mediterranean...
On a Ferry boat

This is one huge ferry boat but it sure doesn't go very fast.  At least we've met these nice people:  Panos is a Greek university student; he's leaving Greece for the first time today.  And that Françoise girl is nice as well.  Erik seems to be hitting on her rather strongly.  I suppose she does have nice eyes, but I don't see much appeal beyond that.  But hey, if Erik likes her, right?  When she turns away I give him a little sign with my head to goad him on.  Maybe he can have his fling after all!  A pretty funny thought.

Françoise tells us how she's a French student from the Université de Lyon.  She has been in Athens for a month, working odd jobs here and there but now she's going to the Italian riviera to meet up with her friend and spend some quality beach time.  I can see Erik making plans in his head already!

Well, there isn't too much to do here on the deck of the overnight ferry.  Hey, maybe someone has a deck of cards.  Something to pass the time with.

Erik asks Françoise if she'd like to go stand by the deck rail and look out over the water for a few minutes.  They get up and go.  Go Erik!

Panos and I are left;  He grins at me because I think we both know that that may have been more than just a little tour of the boat the others went on.  So we chat about things.

He tells me about the part of Greece that he's from, somewhere in the mountains I didn't catch the name of.  He's taking the summer to go abroad, live by himself and experience things.

Am I hungry?  Sure!  Panos is breaking out some food.  It's homemade?  Oh wow, real homemade Greek food from his grandmother, in a ton of little aluminum tubs.  Man, this is really good stuff.  I'm a little skeptical about the food but probably worrying for nothing.  Panos seems like a decent guy.  Too bad he's headed to Milan once we reach Italy. Erik and I are bound for Rome.
