JOT: [Datestamp lost] I'm still frothing at the thought of the furious Day Runner-consuming river - the greedy waters are coursing through my mind. But I've had a great idea about how a bunch of interlinked electronic systems could survive such catasthrophes and keep the right version of an address or appointment. The idea is to have the data fight it out - perhaps in a sort of simulated data courtroom - and muster evidence (my modification is more recent, the online phonebook backs me up, etc.) in support of itself. The winning data is propagated onto the other systems. Data that is older, corrupted, or destroyed is replaced by correct (or at least more accurate) information. |
