I step on the gas as I enter onto Route 93 North. My parents' Lexus purrs while the speedometer needle passes the 70 mark at the top of the dial and begins to push its way down the other side. Traffic is light, but as usual cars are sitting in the passing lane. I start to weave through the traffic, moving smoothly from one lane to the next.

The speedometer needle is pegged at 100. I am driving by pure instinct at this point. The cars barely register in my mind before I am pulling past them, sliding through traffic like a fish through seaweed. "WaaaaAAAAaaaaaiiiillll" My eyes dart to the rearview. A blue flash hits my retinas at the same time the adrenaline hits my brain.

I jerk the wheel to the right, and the tires screech as the car jumps off the highway and onto a dirt path. The path turns to the right, between two lines of trees. I check the rearview again, and through the cloud of dust I see two cop cars gaining on me. I press the accelerator, ignoring the rattling of the car from the rough road.

I brake and pull the wheel hard to the left as the path turns past the end of the trees. A sea of blue lights greets me. Police cruisers are blocking any possible getaway. What the Hell do I do? I slam on the brakes. Time to face the music.

My eyes pop open. Whew, only a dream. My room is black. I am tired, but I'm not sure I'll be able to fall back asleep easily.
