Mill Creek Coalition

The Mill Creek Coalition brings together neighborhood organizations and community, political, religious, and business leaders active in the neighborhood. The MCC/WPLP partnership began in 1999, when Frances Walker, chair of the MCC's Environment Committee, invited Anne Spirn to make a presentation on the Mill Creek. This led to several joint projects, including pilot research on water problems in neighborhood housing, where WPLP staff and MCC president, Crystal Cornitcher, and vice president, Preston Nasir, investigated basements and site drainage. Since 2000, MCC has worked with the Philadelphia Water Department to promote better mutual understanding of watershed and other issues between Mill Creek residents and city agencies.
