Philadelphia Water Department
The Philadelphia Water Department is responsible for providing the
city's water, for managing its wastewater and storm water, and for
operating and maintaining the infrastructure that supports these
services. The PWD/WPLP partnership grew out of meetings sponsored by
the EPA and developed through the leadership of Howard Neukrug,
director of PWD's Office of Watersheds, which was created in 1998. In
1999, WPLP and PWD produced a proposal for the Mill Creek watershed,
which ultimately led to state and federal funding for joint projects
between PWD, SMS, and MCC. Sarah Williams, former WPLP research
assistant, worked on this project at PWD in 2000-2001, and PWD
engineer, Joanne Dahme, has played a key role in work with SMS and
MCC.
