Special Features of "poisson"

You may also want to look at the full parameter list of all the buttons and sliders, or at one of the general help files, Sliders, or Graphs.

Spikes in the density plots
For the MIS-diode we are stuck with trying to plot charge densities localized to sheets of thickness a few Angstroms (gate and interface charge), and densities distributed over depths of hundreds or thousands of Angstroms (depletion and inversion charge) on the same plot.Since the charges per unit area are similar in magnitude, the charge densities per unit volume differ by two or three orders of magnitude and can not be sensibly plotted on the same graph. These spikes are arbitrarily normalized by converting the surface density to a volume density by dividing the surface density by the spike width from the configure dialog box, allowing a qualitative representation of the surface charges.

Automatic update
As in "fermi", the graphs update automatically after a change in parameter. This will make the response seem slow on some platforms: be patient!

Bug "poisson" has troubles near the flatband condition, particularly at high doping concentrations. There may be no points plotted in the semiconductor. Comparison of Qtot with Qdepl will give some indication of the severity of the problem. (Ideally, Qtot = 0.)
