2001Introduction to MAPLE |
This page will serve as a source for instructions on how to use MAPLE
for 8.01X - Fall
2001
There are several links to other sources at MIT that might be more
general:
For Starters:
To start MAPLE, either load from the Athena dash with
Numerical/Math -> Analysis and Plotting ->
Maple
or, at the athena prompt,
athena% maple; maple&
to start Maple Version 5 Release 7.0 (the default release on Athena).
- To do a least-squares plot, the commands, while simple,
take a while to type. the easiest thing to do is to either
Shift-Left-Click or Right-Click to download the
worksheet to use as a template. Brief explanations of the command
lines and some of the more basic options are given as part of the
worksheet. For additional online help, use the ``Help'' feature, in
the upper left corner.
The data used for this fairly simple example are fromCalculus
with Analytic Geometry by George F. Simmons, Second edition
(currently used for 18.01 at MIT), Problem 30 on Page 696.
Remember where you saw it first.
