8.952 :: Particle Physics of the Early Universe

02-02-2009
A course description for 2009 is now available.

03-19-2009
There will be makeup classes on Friday March 20 and on Friday April 10, each from 11:05 - 11:55 am, in Room 1-273. Note that this is NOT our regular classroom (which is 1-375).

05-05-2009
There will be a supplementary class on Friday May 8, from 11:05 - 11:55 am. The location is to be announced shortly.

05-08-2009
Alas, the supplementary class that we intended to have today is cancelled. The problem set is still not ready, but should be ready later this morning.

End of Term Lectures (Visitors Welcome!): My goal from the beginning of the term was to get to the last chapter of Weinberg's Cosmology book, “Inflation as the Origin of Cosmological Fluctuations,” a subject that is dear to my heart. The term ended as we were about to start this chapter, so I am giving a few extra lectures to finish the book. There will be at least two more lectures, and probably no more than three.

We will start (and maybe finish) with two lectures this Monday (tomorrow) and Wednesday, from 10:30 am to noon, in the small seminar room (Ayasli conference room 6-310) at the CTP.

Whether you have been part of this class or not, you are welcome to join us for these final lectures. The material depends significantly on results from earlier in the course, but I will make an effort to define all terms and to summarize these results as we use them, so it should be possible to follow what I am talking about even if you are starting now.
