Samuels Named Finalist for Lionel Gelber Prize

CAMBRIDGE, MA January 15, 2008 — Richard J. Samuels is among five finalists for the Lionel Gelber Prize, one of the world's leading awards for books on international affairs. Samuels, director of CIS and Ford International Professor of Political Science, is nominated for Securing Japan: Tokyo's Grand Strategy and the Future of East Asia, published last September by Cornell University Press. The prize, awarded since 1989, is sponsored by Lionel Gelber Foundation, the Munk Center for International Studies at the University of Toronto, and Foreign Policy magazine. The winner will be announced March 3.
