The Nita Regnier Memoir Writing Group was introduced as memoir-writing workshop for Retirees Association members in 2011. The inaugural class of dedicated writers was led by Nita Regnier herself, Association advisory committee member and former instructor in MIT's Program in Writing and Humanistic Studies in the Writing Center, and our current members carry on her legacy with cheer. The writers have produced fine work which they wish to share with you. While the stories represent a wide range of experiences and generations, some reminiscences may resonate with you and perhaps inspire a flashback or two.
The writers have produced their first Volume of Selected Writings, with five fantastic stories to share with you. In this volume, Thom Opar shares his struggles and successes from early married life; Lucy Wilhelm takes us on a trip across the USSR with her husband; Nancy DuVergne Smith brings her last MIT Commencement to life as she contemplates the start of retirement; David Kettner shares his memories of his hometown, Tooele; and Larry Young brings us along on his training for a space flight mission. We hope you will enjoy the inaugural Selected Writings publication and share with friends and family.
