Emily Hiestand is a writer and photographer, and the creative director of Elements Communications. She received a Brownie camera on her eighth birthday and has been making photographs ever since. These days, her photographs are collected and exhibited, and make themselves useful in homes, offices, civic spaces, and publications. Hiestand's books include The Very Rich Hours (travels to Greece, Orkney, the Everglades, and Belize), and Angela The Upside Down Girl (true stories about identity and place).
