In the past year, many international visitors toured SMA’s distance education learning facilities and held meetings with our staff.

NOV 4
Dr Charles Vest, former President of MIT and a Lee Kuan Yew Distinguished Visitor, gave a lecture at NUS. Professor Ng Wun Jern, Professor Chua Soo Jin, Professor Michael Khor and Ms Chen Fui Lin hosted a lunch meeting for Dr Vest to discuss the development of SMA.

NOV 10
Mr Todd Glickman, Associate Director of Corporate Relations, MIT Industrial Liaison Program (ILP) shared his experiences and the success of MIT-ILP. He was also introduced to the Industry and Research Institute Liaison Committee (Singapore) for future collaboration opportunities between both organisations.

DEC 12
Professor Huang Jin, Vice President of Wuhan University (China) led a delegation to NUS. Professor Ng Wun Jern, Professor Chua Soo Jin and Ms Jagdip Kaur held a meeting with one of the delegates, Ms Li Hui, Deputy Director, International Office. Ms Li also toured the distance education learning facilities.

DEC 19
Professor R.P.H. Chang, Director of Materials Research Institute, from Northwestern University (USA) was invited to visit NUS. He met up with Professor Ng Wun Jern to discuss R&D and was hosted to a lunch by SMA.

Associate Professor Miho Funamori, Deputy Director and Ms Mayumi Watanabe, Research Coordinator from the Division for International Relations, University Tokyo (Japan) visited SMA to understand our distance learning education facilities and initiatives in transnational collaborative R&D. They met up with Professor Ng Wun Jern.

MAR 7
Mr Mohammed Al-Muhtaseb, Director of Projects, Queen Rania’s office, Jordan visited SMA and held a brief meeting with Professor Chua Soo Jin and Ms Jagdip Kaur. The objective of Mr Al-Muhtaseb’s visit was to understand the operations of internationally renowned institutions such as NUS.
