Athletics Weekend- Spring 2009

The Second Annual Spring Athletics Weekend, hosted by the UA Athletics Committee took place this past Saturday, April 11th. The inclement weather, unfortunately, was not in favor of the day, but a great event took place nonetheless. The Men's Lacrosse team won a close game 4-3, followed by 9-0 win from the Men's Tennis team. Both events were surrounded by fans sporting their new cardinal and white "Beaver Fever" shirts.

This year was also the inaugural BeaverBowl competition! The competition involved 10 teams competing alongside the melodious tunes of the MIT Marching Band, for pride, glory and prizes . The events involved included: Gladiator Jousting, Tug-of-War, MIT Sports Trivia, and a Hot-Dog Eating/Water Drinking Flip Cup Challenge. The four finalists: Burton 1, Team Jube is a B*tch, Team LCA '09, and Team Nameless, all competed in the final obstacle course involved: soccer, volleyball, wearing football gear, throwing beavers in bowls, crutch racing, and a final leap frog race to the finish. Team LCA '09 won a close battle, and was named BeaverBowl Champions 2009.

Overall the event was a great success with strong student support throughout all the events.
