John Miller is one of several sophomores returning
to this year's squad. Both bigger and more experienced, he looks
to provide a strong inside resence for the Engineers this season.
John comes to MIT from Winchester High School in Winchester, MA,
where he played two years of Varsity Basketball for Coach Quinton
Dale and the Sachems with present teammate Phil Murray. As a sophomore
and a postseason callup, he was part of a Winchester team that reached
the Division 2 North semifinals, losing to the eventual state champs
from East Boston. As a senior John made significant contributions
to a team that contended for a conference championship in the very
competitive Middlesex League and reached the second round of the
Division 2 North Championships. All in all, John led a senior class
that played in the State Tournament for three consecutive seasons.
John's parents, John and Joan, are graduates of MIT while his brother,
Doug, and sister, Mary, both attend the Winchester Public Schools.
The Miller family figures to be at many of the Engineers' games.
John also rows for MIT's Varsity Crew team in the offseason. He
is looking to become a doctor or work in the Bio-Tech industry.
