Introduction -- Apparent Motion Displays

The following dynamic displays accompany the static ones shown in the above entitled manuscript.

To view the displays in sequence, use the NEXT DISPLAY links at the top-right of each page. To jump to a particular display, you may follow the links at the bottom of each page.

By default, the static display will be presented first. To begin the animation, click anywhere on the figure; click again to stop, or simply proceed to the next display.

For several of the displays, you may wish to download an .avi version of the animation. We suggest using QuickTime Player or Windows Media Player to view the animation as it will allow you scale it appropriately and to loop/repeat the movie. (Type Control-L in QuickTime to activate the "loop" option. In Windows Media Player, select the shuffle/repeat icon twice or right click on the image to turn "repeat" on.) Alternately, you may import the .avi files into a Microsoft PowerPoint or a Lotus Freelance Graphics presentation, set the options so that the movie loops, scale the image as necessary and view it that way.
