The Neural
Control of Vision
O. Illusions
This three-fold combination is quite
effective in disrupting the cohesiveness of apparent motion.
These observations suggest
the following:
- 1.
There is a strong tendency for apparent motion to be perceived cohesively
over a large area of the visual field.
- 2.
As long as size is relatively constant, color and shape have limited
influence on the perceived apparent motion.
- 3. Size differences do influence
the direction of motion perceived.
- 4. Combining color, shape and size
cues enhances the effect.
