The effectiveness of electrical stimulation
Detailed examination of the effects of electrical stimulation in area
V1 has revealed several other significant effects in addition to the production
of phosphenes. Notable among these are three:
(a) Electrical stimulation can elicit saccadic eye movements.
(b) The threshold for eliciting saccadic eye movements changes as a
function of the depth of the electrode in V1.
(c) Electrical stimulation can produce interference effects.
