The MIT Press Bookstore is moving!

This October, after 36 years in Kendall Square, the MIT Press Bookstore will be relocating to 301 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge. Same great books, but soon with more space!

Our last day of operation at 292 Main Street will be Thursday, October 20th, 2016. We will close at 5:00pm on this day.

Our first day of operation at our new location will be Monday, October 24th, 2016. We'll be open by 12:00pm.

We’re leaving Kendall Square as construction of MIT’s Kendall Square Initiative gets underway. This massive building campaign will make several buildings along Main Street uninhabitable for the next few years, including our building, E-38.

Please pardon our appearance over the next few weeks as many of our store fixtures are removed for refinishing, or simply moved to the new store location.

We’ll return to the new Kendall Square in a few years, but please make sure to visit us in the meantime!

Moving Sale
October 1st to October 14th
10:00 am to 6:00 pm

We'll be hosting a two week long clearance sale to help empty out the store and our storage rooms. Between Saturday, October 1st and Sunday, October 14th all new books in the store will be 20% off.

Plus, we're taking over another office on our floor to host a sale very similar to our traditional loading dock sale... TONS and TONS of MIT Press books--up to 90% off their original retail prices. Most books priced at five dollars or less!

We'll have thousands of MIT Press titles in excellent condition, hailing from every discipline for which the Press is renowned. You will find plenty of the usual suspects: out-of-print books, gently shop-worn books, plus piles of MIT Press journal back-issues. Come browse and enjoy huge savings

Fans of our Loading Dock Sale will be familiar with the pricing:
a RED stripe on the edge means the book is $10, BLUE=$7, GREEN=$5, and PURPLE=$3. The vast majority of books will 5 bucks or less!

FYI, there will not be a loading dock sale this year...Please come to our moving sale instead!

MOVING SALE TIMELINE:

The sale begins at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 1st.

For the first week (October 1-7) we'll be restocking the tables overnight with fresh inventory, while supplies last.

On Saturday, October 8th, all of the prices on remaining inventory will drop one tier...RED striped books become $7, BLUE becomes $5, GREEN becomes $3, and PURPLE drops to $1 each.

We'll be closed on Monday, October 10th for the Columbus Day holiday.

Finally, on Thursday and Friday, October 13th & 14th, EVERYTHING that is left will be $1 EACH!
