Scenario 2: Dishes

Introduction : Deliver an ultimatum : Talk to Messie later : State feelings and interests

You chose: Say, “I spoke in anger before and didn’t mean to threaten you. Please understand that the cleanliness of the kitchen matters a lot to me, and to others, and please wash your dishes and throw out your leftovers.”

Messie says that she didn’t realize how you felt and will try to clean up more, but she does need to keep leftovers in the refrigerator. You offer to get some plastic wrap so that here food will stay fresh in the refrigerator. Messie thanks you.
