Scenario 2: Dishes

Introduction : Deliver an ultimatum : Talk to Messie later

You chose: Go to Messie later and say that you’re sorry the discussion got heated and just want to talk.

Messie responds that she is willing to talk but does not want to be ordered around or threatened.

You can...

Let P handle it.
Say, “I am sorry if I sounded like I was threatening you. I would appreciate it if you would wash dishes you use and only put wrapped, preservable items in the refrigerator.”
Go With P
Say, “Messie, you are out of line here. We all share the kitchen and all have to clean up after ourselves. You aren’t doing that.”
Throw Out Food
Say, “I spoke in anger before and didn’t mean to threaten you. Please understand that the cleanliness of the kitchen matters a lot to me, and to others, and please wash your dishes and throw out your leftovers.”
