To run a report,
- From the CAO Application main menu, select a report
menu by typing its command and pressing your key for ENTER. For example,
enter "CHT" to display the Chart menu, shown below.
Notes: The report menus are: CHT (chart), DPT
(department), PAY (payroll), and PRO (projection), as described on
the prior screen.
Mac users need to press RETURN instead of ENTER. For
key equivalents, see your terminal emulation software documentation
or the CAO
Application Quick Guide. The Quick Guide also addresses common
problems encountered on MITVMA.
You can press PF1 from any CAO Application screen to
display help for the screen you're on.
Note: To display
the next page of menu items, type "N" and press ENTER (or press your
key for PF8).
- To select a report, type its number and press ENTER.
For example, enter "1" on the Chart menu to run a report
on all your authorized accounts sorted by account number.
Result: If this is the first report in your terminal
session, you are prompted to create work files (not shown).
- Press ENTER at the prompt (or enter "O" on any
screen) to display the Work File Options screen, shown below.
You use this screen to select the report data (monthly
or year-end) and highest account termination code (to run your reports
on active accounts only or include terminated accounts).
You can also select to use an account consolidation
table (to run report on a subset of your authorized accounts) or object
code consolidation table (to use a set of non-standard object codes
in your reports). Click here for more information about work

- Select work file options, as needed. To do so,
press TAB to move the cursor to the top of the screen.
Type 2-digits for a Month of Data, for example "04"
for April. Type 2-digits for Year of Data, for example "96".
To run reports on "active accounts only", leave Highest
Termination Code blank. A code of "1" or "2" means "account closed,
but charges apply"; use a code of "3" to include terminated accounts.
- Press your key for ENTER to create work files.
Result: Messages display as work files are created.
When the report is ready, the Disposition screen displays, as shown
below.
- Type "DI" on the Command line to display the report
on your screen. Note: Click here for more on Disposition
options.
Result: The report displays on your screen, as
shown below. Your view is of the upper left report corner.

- You can use PF keys or commands to move up, down.
right, and left around the report.

- To display a monthly statement for any account
in the report, type the 5-digit account number on the Command line.
A sample report is shown below.
- From a monthly statement, you can display current
month detail for any object code included in the report. A sample screen
is shown below.
- To quit a screen (and redisplay the prior screen),
press PF3. You need to press PF3 repeatedly to quit from several levels
of reports.
When the Disposition screen redisplays, you can select
another option, if needed. For example, you could create a file for
exporting the report to your workstation. Click here for more on Disposition
