Using the $SumMIT Custom Data options, you can keep very
accurate records of account status - more accurate than is possible with
CAO data alone (that is, CAO budgets, actuals, SANDI data, and PO commitments).
For example, you can use custom data options to enter custom
budgets, commitments, and chart overrides for use in $SumMIT forecast
reports. You can enter monthly budgets for use in $SumMIT custom reports.
With Personnel Entry (SumSal), you can create a local database of personnel
commitments (see below for more).
$SumMIT custom data (except for SumSal data) is stored in
a custom database on MITVMA. Any user authorized to access CAO data for
an account can access its custom data.
The Custom Data menu options are briefly described below.
- Budget
Maintain custom FY budget records that can replace CAO budgets in the
forecast report Budget column.
Maintain monthly budgets for use in $SumMIT's pre-programmed
Custom Reports.
- Chart Override
Maintain custom data on account authorized amount, expiration date,
and future year reserve for use in forecast reports.
Your chart overrides can be used instead of CAO chart
data to determine forecast period end date and account "available
dollars".
- Commitment
Maintain data on "commitments" (that is, planned or future expenses
not yet recorded in the CAO database) by account and object code.
Your commitments entered via Custom Data can be added
to the forecast report's Projected column.
- Personnel (same as SumSal)
In an ORACLE database on a department workstation, maintain data on
personnel commitments (including current and future accounts, persons,
salaries, distributions, and more).
You can opt to substitute custom personnel commitments
for CAO forecast data in $SumMIT forecast reports.
You can run the following Personnel Entry reports on
your local database,
- Personnel Commitments by Account (PCA),
- Personnel Salary Distribution by Name.
For more details, see the printed booklets "Custom Data
- Budgets, Commitments, and Chart Overrides" and "Custom Data - Personnel
Entry".
