The 2005 Cartel meeting will be held at Columbia University Wednesday 20 July through Friday 22 July.



Accommodations

There are no major hotels on or immediately adjacent to campus. Some hotels for visitors to campus include

The Excelsior 81st & Columbus $159/night Ten minute walk to 79 St Station on #1 subway, then about 10 minutes to 116 St. Or, about 10 minutes by taxi or 35-45 minutes by foot.
Most major chains Times Square $200/night Twenty minutes from 42 St or 50 St Stations on #1 subway to 116 St.
Columbia Dorms 115th & Broadway $51/night On campus. Please do not contact Conference Housing directly.

Location

The meeting will be held in 523 Butler Library.

Enter at the main library entrance (north side, facing campus). A list of registered attendees will be provided to the guard. After passing the guard, turn right and follow the hallway until reaching the west elevators. At the fifth floor, turn right leaving the elevators. 523 is at the end of the hall.

This space is equipped with free love wireless and a projector. Adequate power will be provided.

Transportation

Don't drive or rent a car here unless you have a really good reason.

MetroCards are valid on city subways and buses, and a handful of other systems.

The closest subway station to campus is 116 St on the #1 line, which is a short walk from Butler Library. Do not use any other 116 St station, as they are quite far and separated by Morningside Park from campus.

From Newark airport, AirTrain Newark will get you to Penn Station (34 St) for about $12 via New Jersey Transit. From JFK, AirTrain JFK will take you to the subway for $5. From La Guardia, the M60 bus will take you directly to campus.
