China Politics Working Group

The China Politics Working Group brings together faculty and graduate students from a variety of disciplines united in a common interest in understanding change in contemporary China. The goal is to develop an intellectual community built around individuals studying the specifics of Chinese domestic politics and foreign affairs, the ramifications of China's development for the broader global commons, and the implications of the Chinese case for general social science theory. Meetings will be devoted primarily to the presentation and discussion of research "work in progress" by various members of the working group. Presenters will occasionally be drawn from beyond the MIT community. Meetings will be held once per month during the spring term of 2008, and membership is open to graduate students and faculty across the MIT community. The group is chaired by Edward Steinfeld, faculty member in the MIT Political Science Department.
