Task
Force Final Report
The MIT Task Force on the Undergraduate Educational Commons has
released its final report. For the past two and a half years, the
two dozen MIT faculty members and undergraduate students on the
Task Force have comprehensively reviewed MIT's General Institute
Requirements and other aspects of the common educational experience
of MIT students.
A draft of the Task Force's report and recommendations was delivered
to President Susan Hockfield and to members of the Academic Council
in early October. The Task Force has now delivered its final report,
and President Hockfield has issued a response.
With the release of the final report, the Faculty and faculty
committees begin a period of discussion about the report and its
recommendations. Check out the News section
of this site for upcoming events and articles about the report.
PDF versions of both the full report and a summary of the report
and recommendations are available below. Printed copies of the
report will be distributed in November. Also available is an Overview
of the Work and Recommendations of the Task Force (PDF: 123KB)
and a story from the MIT News Office, "Proposed
undergraduate curriculum balances rigor, flexibility."
Comments about the report may be submitted and viewed on the Faculty site. |
