The writer producer of the documentary Lumumba: Death of a Prophet (or
Lumumba, la mort d'un prophete) is Haitian filmmaker Raoul Peck. He is also
the director Man by the Shore (L'homme sur les quais) another important and
excellent political film set in Haiti in the 1960's.
I would also like to bring my own film, "Gir-Gir" (English title: Tumult) to
your attention. It is a feature film set in 1960 Ethiopia during an aborted
coup d'etat against Emperor Haile Selassie's government. "Gir-gir" has
screened at more than thirty five international film festivals and has been
released theatrically in Washington D.C., London and five cities in Germany.
It was screened on SABC-2 (South African television) last month.
