Operation Nightshade
In 2023, the world was shocked when a reputable scientist, Dr. Lazlo Antona came forward with allegations that the government of the United States had been engaged in a bizarre and immoral scheme to eavesdrop upon its citizens through -- of all things -- telepathic interference.
Dr. Antona, in a conference with President Burngray, urged the leader to investigate the files related to the Kopfberg Project. Burngray was so outraged with the excesses of 2016-2018 as to declare the project, and all those associated with it,
A threat to the future of the nation, and an attack against all those who have built its foundations. Make no mistake, there are those among us who would not balk at stealing the very thoughts of their countrymen... and they have done so.Though no direct evidence has been found to link the Rollins administration to the Kopfberg Project, Burngray also blasted them for "contributing to a socio-moral climate in which a righteous man such as Pedro Menor can be hunted down like an animal, by invisible pursuers." This allegation, however, seems less fair; Certainly all we can blame the Rollins administration for was backing the wrong candidate; no evidence has been found of their complicity in Operation Nightshade.
When asked if he would have exposed the Operation even if he did not believe he would be excused for the national security breach, Dr. Antona claimed that he would, simply because "right is never worse than wrong, no matter how it is dressed or decorated."
