ULI Trek
The Urban Land Institute is a multi-disciplinary real estate forum that facilitates the open exchange of ideas, information and experience among local, national, and international industry leaders and policy makers dedicated to creating better places.
MIT/CRE routinely participates in the ULI's worldwide conferences – most recently at their October 2006 conference in Denver, Colorado. The Institute hosted more than 50 real estate workshops and 25 optional learning programs, such as a Lodo walking tour, a behind-the-scenes look at the Broncos’ stadium, and a customized visit to some of the country’s most innovative, infill master-planned communities. In addition, distinguished speakers spoke on a variety of important topics:
- Robert Redford questioned whether environmentally-friendly development is an ideal or an oxymoron.
- Good to Great author Jim Collins made a compelling case for what it will take to make the leap to greatness.
- Former editor-in-chief of The Economist, Bill Emmott, explored the future of capitalism.
- Donna Shalala, former secretary of Health and Human Services, addressed the future of healthcare.
- General Colin Powell reflected on the delicate process of forging alliances – bringing people and countries together in the pursuit of peace and democracy.
