M:I-T -- Mission Impossible Tournament

Welcome,

MOST OF THE CONTENT ON THESE PAGES IS VERY OLD. COME BACK LATER FOR NEWER STUFF.

The debate team of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is proud to invite any and all debaters to attend the Mission Impossible Tournament (M:I-T) to be held on December first and second, 2000 on the MIT campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The tournament, the last of the millennium on the American Parliamentary Debating Circuit, will consist of five rounds of parliamentary debate and break rounds starting at the Quarter-Final level. The competition at the tournament will include some of the top ranked teams on the circuit as well as many individuals new to college debating, providing appropriate opposition for all skill levels.

The name of the tournament, asides from forming a convenient abbreviation, is indicative of the efforts that we as a team will take to accomplish many feats of efficiency commonly thought impossible for a debating tournament on APDA. Our tab manned by MIT Mathematics and Computer Science majors will do everything humanly, and algorithmically, possible to keep the tournament running well on time -- so as not to waste your valuable time. Our tournament will also have a deep a deep judging pool consisting of dinos from throughout the Boston Area. Several parties on campus Friday night will offer a chance for you to get your fun on.

The registration fee for the tournament is $100 dollars per team, payable to the MIT debate team in cash or check. The money will go to good use in bringing you an entertaining, efficient, well structured tournament as well as a hearty bagel breakfast and Indian banquet on Saturday before the fourth round and after the fifth.

As a team we value having a wide scope of schools represented at our tournament believing it enhances the experience for everyone. We realize, however, that long traveling times are often a hindrance for those who would want to attend our tournament. In light of this, we are ready to offer substantial rate reductions for teams south of New York City (NYC included) and north of the border. If you are such a team please contact me and we will do everything possible to try to set up favorable circumstances for your attending.

Sincerely,

Phil Larochelle
