The Democratic National Convention (DNC) will be taking place in Boston Monday July 26 through Thursday July 29, 2004. MIT will remain open during this period. As usual, check 617-253-7669 (253-SNOW) for any emergency information.

The Democratic National Committee and various security and law enforcement agencies have released plans for changes in traffic and public transportation during the convention, which will be held at the Fleet Center. It is clear that these changes will cause major disruptions for the MIT community, particularly those faculty, staff and students who live north of Boston.

Departments, labs and centers may need to provide some flexibility to those whose commutes will be seriously affected, while taking into account the needs of their own operations.

If you plan to be connecting from home during the DNC you may want to prepare and test your connection in advance. There will be an open Q&A session on Wednesday, July 21 from 9 to 11 am in the N42 Demo Center. IS&T staff will be on hand to help you make sure your computer and connections are properly prepared.

This web site provides information on traffic patterns, services available on campus during that week, HR policies, and DNC-related events in Cambridge.
