Linux - a Free POSIX Operating System for the 386

Want to run UNIX at home? Want to run netrek on your PC? The easiest way to start is to run Linux on a 386 or 486 (desktop or notebook) system. There's even an easy to use install kit called SLS that simplifies installation.

Linux was written by Linus Torvalds and his plan file has loads of information on it.

paycheck.cygnus.com and quiche.mit.edu are Linux boxes that are on the net (most of the time.) A port of the Athena environment is in progress; Kerberos is working, though distribution arrangements haven't been worked out yet.
