Campus Construction

The Campus Construction group manages and implements ground-up building projects on campus as well as major renewals and renovations of MIT’s existing physical assets, often collaborating with the Office of Campus Planning during the design and planning phases.

The Project Management team leads all campus construction and stewardship activities including large-scale construction projects—from programming through occupancy—as well as renovations and renewals ranging from whole building interventions to lab and office upgrades. A portfolio of large-scale construction work is detailed on the Capital Projects website. To maximize investment impact, the team’s robust Capital Renewal program prioritizes projects that advance MIT’s mission by addressing infrastructure and programmatic needs together.

The mission of the Systems Performance & Turnover team is to advance sustainability and lead MIT’s commitment toward a high-performance campus by addressing the entire life cycle of our built environment. SPT integrates a whole-building, systems approach into the planning, design, and construction process; develops best practices to improve the operation and efficient performance of existing systems; and leads a quality turnover process that benefits MIT project management and operations teams as well as the users of our buildings.
