Resurfacing the Stata Center Garage
A project at the Stata Center will affect the entrance ramps, loading dock, and parking lot. From October 8 until November 21, one side of the ramp will be closed from 7 PM to 6 AM every day. Travel in and out of the garage will be permitted except for Thanksgiving weekend. In order to apply a new surface material to the ramps and loading dock, it is necessary for the garage to be closed from 7 PM on Wednesday, November 21 until 6 AM on Monday, November 26. While the garage is closed the childcare spaces will be posted for HP parking.

Celebrating Facilities staff on Labor Day
In honor of the holiday that recognizes workers, the MIT News Office created a video featuring our Facilities staff who are always here supporting the Institute. Twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The video highlights staff as they perform a multitude of tasks and reveals just how much they truly accomplish each day. Hubway comes to Cambridge. The MIT Parking & Transportation Office is pleased to announce the arrival of two Hubway bicycle stations to campus: one at the corner of Mass Ave and Amherst St and another outside the Stata Center adjacent to Vassar St. MIT employees and students can sign up for a subsidized Hubway membership for only $25/year (regularly $85/year).

Keep our hallways clear of clutter. Through the fall of 2012, Facilities will not charge to remove any items including white goods. So, submit a work order through SAPweb if you have items that need to be removed. We are especially interested in items that are now in a hallway, but will take any items including those from your office or lab. Prior to removal, deactivate any electronic items and delete contents from computers. Help us help you to keep MIT safe and clutter free.

Facilities Customer Forum
Please join us at our Customer Forum on Thursday, June 28 in Bartos Theatre in Building E15. The presentations will take place from 1-2 PM and will be followed by a reception with the presenters and other managers and supervisors from Facilities.
Presentation topics include the Capital Renewal Program, the new Comprehensive Stewardship Group (CSG), ordering physical security services provided by SEMO, and keeping the hallways free from clutter.

Walk this way. Actually, walk any way, just as long as you leave the car at home. Why? To participate in the Walk/Ride Day Corporate Challenge. MIT is a partner in helping to create healthier streets and communities. So, we'll be competing to log the most car-free and car-light trips on the last Friday of each month through September 28. Green commute on the last Friday and help us win! What’s a green commute? Biking, walking, public transit, telecommuting and carpooling. How will you be counted? By checking in each month.

Pledge Miles during Bike Awareness Week
Pledge your miles for this year’s Mass Commuter Bike Challenge. Last year MIT beat Harvard University and won First Place under the large university category. Help us to win again this year!
Then pedal over to the Stratton Student Center plaza on Wednesday, May 17 from 11 AM - 2 PM and celebrate Bike Awareness Day! Bring a copy of your registration form and get a free t-shirt. Refreshments will be available and there’ll be bike-related giveaways.
This event is hosted by the Parking and Transportation Office and is being held in conjunction with the Bay State Bike Week.

Order Physical Security Services on SAPweb As of March 16 SEMO is offering its physical security services through the Building Services tab in SAPweb. Services include access card readers, alarms, video, and life safety systems. Requests will be filtered through the Facilities work order system as are other request for services. Customers will also track their jobs using the work order number created for their request.

Get ready, set, recycle!
Get your competitive spirit going because RecycleMania is underway now through April 6. During this national collegiate recycling competition, data is collected weekly and a school’s recycling rate is determined as a percentage of the overall waste generated by the campus. Visit our Request Services pages to learn how to request recycling bins and totes for office clean outs. Let’s work together to raise MIT’s recycling rate and reduce waste on campus!

Want to try carpooling to campus?
Zimride, a ride sharing program, makes it easy to find a ride to and from campus. Zimriders can view profiles for common networks, interests, and friends before deciding to share a ride. You can even share your Zipcar through Zimride to reduce scost. Use of the Zimride ridesharing website will be provided at no charge to students and staff during the 2011-2012 academic year.
