One of the biggest differences that struck me after watching
the two films is the cinematography used by each director.

The French version was a lot slower and contained a lot
less dialogue than the American version. Each scene seemed
drawn out and more "mise en scene" than the corresponding
American version. This style allowed me to concentrate on
the emotions of these characters a lot more than those of the
fast-paced, action-packed Hollywood production. Although
the more exciting American version did a better job of
holding my attention, I found the characters very
one-dimensonal and superficial. The story was too much of
a circus act during some of the scenes, while I found parts
like the diaper changing scene in the French version to
be humorous and more of a believable story.

Agree? (or Disagree?)
