Lockheed-Martin

Location: Lexington, MA
Number of Respondents: 1

The student lived on campus in his fraternity; thus housing was easy to find. No subsidy was provided to cover housing costs. The student used a car during his 30-minute commute to work; however, he felt a car was not necessary, nor does the company provide a car to its interns. Living on campus during the summer offered many after-work activities.

The student's project, involving product development, was assigned before the summer, during discussions with his supervisor in the spring. The project was quite interesting to the student and quite important to the work of the group. He described his project as a very challenging one and an opportunity to learn new things.

The work environment at Lockheed-Martin is quite laid-back, and dress is neither very casual or very formal. The student shared an office. The co-workers are extremely competent and treated the student with a great deal of respect. The available equipment is fairly state-of-the-art. There was little contact with other students. Lockheed-Martin organized only an end-of-summer luncheon for the students.

No health or dental benefits are paid by Lockheed-Martin, but 5th year, 1st term tuition costs are paid. Salary was slightly below average.

The student reported that Lockheed-Martin is a good company and that he/she worked in a great group. The student would choose to work at Lockheed-Martin again and would consider working there after graduation.
