This workshop will explore how we can tell different kinds of stories using a shared set of raw video content. We will start with tutorials on video camera handling and digital video editing, followed by a session on Individeo, a web-based tool developed in the Interactive Cinema group at the Media Lab, which allows users to edit and share video online. All participants will then spend several days shooting video, with a shared theme or plot in mind. The resulting video from everyone will be added and edited using Individeo, and the results will be presented on the web. The focus of the workshop is not the mastery of specific software or the completion of your own short film. Rather, we will try to work out a new way of collaborating on storytelling by sharing and editing the video together. Session hours may vary from the listed hours: we may not meet on some of the days so that we can devote time to shooting video, or we may set up additional hours for completing tutorials.
