This series provides an introduction to the world's largest movie industry and traces its evolution over the years in subtle harmony with changing Indian societal and cultural values, norms and perspectives. Appropriate comparison and contrasts with Western cinema on a variety of issues ranging from violence, family system to gender roles in movies, highlight the differences and similarities in the Western and Indian approach to culture and entertainment. The format is a combination of voice over by the speakers with movie clips (with English sub-titles) illustrating the character and spirit of different elements in the movies.
