IAP 2004 Activity

Give Good Presentations -- With or Without PowerPoint!
Lee Ridgway, Janet Wasserstein
Thu Jan 15, 12-01:30pm, N42 Demo Center

No enrollment limit, no advance sign up
Single session event

Presentations! Most of us have sat through them - often wishing we were somewhere else. Many of us must do them - often wishing we were doing something else. This session presents pointers for improving your public speaking and presentations - with or without slides. Janet Wasserstein (Foundation Relations & Academic Development) will talk about do's and don'ts when speaking; how to overcome nerves; what has worked for her and what hasn't; how to learn to like, if not love, speaking to an audience. Lee Ridgway (Information Systems) will discuss PowerPoint - it's good and bad points; how to use it effectively; how to avoid having it detract from your presentation; how to convey meaningful information; when it should not be used.
