This course overviews the MIT Windows Domain for end users, covering installation, configuration, file systems, services and software, from the user's perspective. Interested attendees might be users of machines in current WIN containers, prospective container administrators and students. This hands-on class uses high-speed machines in the latest IS cluster. Topics covered: installing and configuring a WIN machine (RIS vs. joining); choosing a container (push vs. pull configuration management); using AFS on Windows; using Moira on Windows; setting group memberships; using shortcuts; optimizing login time and managing your desktop; software and services a WIN machine offers; installing personally owned software.
