Today’s fashion model is a young woman who is 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs approximately 100-110 pounds. Marilyn Monroe was 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighed 150 pounds. The standards of beauty for women have changed over time. This presentation will give women an opportunity to discuss the impact that body image ideals have on their lives and health, examine the topic from a cultural and social perspective, and gain new awareness of societal influences. There will be an opportunity to share ideas and strategies to resist the negative images of women portrayed in our culture.
